Abdul Razzaq, Asad Shafiq, Babar Azam, Bilal Afzal, Gary Kirsten, Mohammad Yousuf, and Wahab Riaz were the participants in the two-hour selection committee meeting that concluded on Friday afternoon (UK time).
Among the fifteen players chosen, five are making their T20 World Cup debuts: Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Saim Ayub, and Usman Khan. Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim, meanwhile, have not played in a T20 World Cup since 2016 and 2021, respectively. The remaining eight players took part in the Australian competition in 2022.
There is a great blend of youth and experience on this side, and they are all quite talented. These athletes have been playing together for a while, and they appear to be well-prepared and at ease for the competition next month.
Haris Rauf is healthy and doing admirably in the nets. While it would have been wonderful if he had received a game at Headingley, we are still optimistic that he will keep improving in the next games, as he and the other strike bowlers will be crucial to the success of the T20 World Cup.
From the tournament’s start in 2007 in South Africa to the present day, Pakistan has a remarkable record in the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup. It advanced to the finals twice, once under Younis Khan in 2009 and once under Shoaib Malik in 2007 and Babar Azam in 2022. In 2010, 2012, and 2021, it advanced to the final four.
