The debutants from Canada have named their T20 World Cup 2024 squad, and there is a plethora of experience among them.
Saad Bin Zafar, an all-rounder, has been selected captain of Canada’s seasoned squad for the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup, which begins next month.
Group A includes co-hosts the United States of America, India, Pakistan, and Ireland; this will be Canada’s maiden T20 World Cup appearance.
Canada’s roster features just four players younger than thirty, but they boast a plethora of experience thanks to left-arm orthodox spinner Saad, as well as top-order hitter Aaron Johnson and left-arm seamer Kaleem Sana.
Nikhil Dutta and Srimantha Wijeyeratne were not selected for the squad, although Tajinder Singh will be traveling as a substitute.
On June 1, Canada will face off against the United States in Dallas in their opening Twenty20 World Cup encounter. Early in April, the teams played a bilateral series that the Americans won.
The team was led in 2022 by Pubudu Dassanayake, a former Sri Lankan and Canadian international.
The Canadian squad consists of: Nicholas Kirton, Pargat Singh, Ravinderpal Singh, Rayyankhan Pathan, Shreyas Movva, Aaron Johnson, Dilon Heyliger, Dilpreet Bajwa, Harsh Thaker, Jeremy Gordon, Junaid Siddiqui, Kaleem Sana, Kanwarpal Tathgur, Navneet Dhaliwal, and Saad Bin Zafar (captain). Tajinder Singh, Aaditya Varadharajan, Parveen Kumar, Jatinder Matharu, and Ammar Khalid are the reserve players.
