A total of fifteen Afghan national team members will compete in the 2024 ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup.
Rashid Khan will captain Afghanistan’s 15-man squad that will compete in the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup 2024 in the United States and the West Indies. The roster was announced in June of this year.
Afghan national team roster changes from 2022: Karim Janat, Mohammad Ishaq, and Noor Ahmad are all in this year’s lineup.
Hashmatullah Shahidi, who captained Afghanistan at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 last year, was absent from the squad because he hadn’t played in a Twenty20 International since 2022.
Nangyal Kharoti, a young player who debuted for Afghanistan this year in March’s match against Ireland, is also named to the roster. In that series, the 20-year-old made an impression with five wickets at an economy of just 5.90 in three games.
Mohammad Ishaq, a wicketkeeper batter who competed for Afghanistan in the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cups in 2020 and 2022, is another promising young Afghan player who has secured a ticket.
With the help of Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Noor Ahmad, Nangyal Kharoti, and seasoned player Mohammad Nabi, Rashid will head up the spin department.
Afghanistan’s fast-bowling lineup consists of Naveen-ul-Haq, Fareed Ahmad, and Fazalhaq Farooq, all of whom have kept their positions.
