For the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, the ICC has established a record-breaking $11.25 million USD prize budget, with the champions expected to take home at least $2.45 million.
The victors of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will take home the largest prize in the competition’s history.
This ninth edition is the biggest of its kind, with 20 teams playing over 28 days at nine different venues in the USA and the West Indies.
The losing semi-finalists will receive $787,500 apiece, while the runners-up will receive at least $1.28 million. Teams that place between tenth and twelve will receive $247,500 each, and those who do not make it past the second round will receive $382,500 each.
Teams placing 13th through 20th will split $225,000 among themselves. A bonus of $31,154 will also be awarded to each club for each victory, with the exception of the semifinals and championship games.
There will be 40 matches in the first round of the event, followed by the Super 8s and the semi-finals in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana. The 2024 men’s champions will be crowned at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, the site of the championship match.
Regarding the historic nature of the event, ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice said, “It is fitting that the prize money for players reflects that. This event is historic in so many ways.” The athletes will delight hundreds of millions of fans worldwide in what we hope will be an extraordinary occasion.
