India performed admirably in the final ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up match against Bangladesh, but the standout performance came from the returning Rishabh Pant, who scorched a fast five wickets.
Bangladesh vs. India: scorecard
In India’s practice match against Bangladesh, Rishabh Pant was in outstanding form, leading his team to a commanding 60-run victory.
He concluded his career at 53 from 32 deliveries, including four maximums, having put his team in a strong position to win as they finished their innings at 182/5.
It signifies his comeback to the pinnacle of international cricket after suffering severe injuries in a terrifying vehicle accident in December 2022.
Bangladesh was unable to produce much of a reaction, falling short with just 122/9 on the board. Arshdeep Singh claimed a flurry of early wickets, with Soumya Sarkar out for a duck on the fourth delivery and Litton Das for just six on the opening ball of the third over.
Jaker Ali and Rishad Hossain were removed by Shivam Dube, who took two wickets in two balls during the final over.
Following their 2-1 series loss to the USA, Bangladesh showed some encouraging indications. Mahmudullah’s amazing catch on the boundary, which required quick reflexes and precise footwork to remove Dube for 14, was one such instance of their excellent fielding.
However, they will be concerned after witnessing Shoriful Islam, who put his left hand behind Hardik Pandya’s stroke and went off in pain one ball from the conclusion of the innings, raise some doubts.
Virat Kohli, who joined the team late following his IPL exploits and was given a break, was not with India.
Additionally, skipper Rohit Sharma made a suggestion during the post-match ceremony that his starting lineup against Ireland on Wednesday is still tentative, adding, “We have 15 good players here.” We need to assess the current circumstances before determining which combination will work best for us.”
Overall, it was a good test match with a limited capacity for the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium before the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 got underway.
